PERU LUXURY TOURS PROGRAMME: CUSCO IMPERIAL TOURS 7 Days / 6 Nights DESCRIPTION Lima - Cusco ( City Tour + Sacred Valley + Inca Trail + Aguas Calientes + Machu Picchu) ITINERARY Day 01: Lima - Cusco (City Tour) Arrival in Cusco, reception and transfer to your hotel. Morning free to adjust to the altitude. After lunch on your own, we’ll enjoy a guided tour of the nearby Inca ruins including Kenko, the ceremonial bath of Tambomachay and the amazing Sacsayhuaman, a huge fortress of massive stones. We will also take a tour of the city including the Koricancha, temple of the Sun, a nice example of the Inca architecture, the Main Plaza, the Cathedral and much more. Return to your hotel. Day 02: Cusco - Sacred Valley of the Incas Full day tour, including visits to the colorful Pisac Indian Market and the Ollantaytambo Fortress. At an elevation of 8,500 feet, the Urubamba Valley, or Sacred Valley of the Incas, is the historic heart of the Inca Empire. It was intensively cultivated with terraces increasing its harvest several fold. Small villages lined the valley floor, while the stone fortresses of Ollantaytambo and Pisac served the dual purpose of providing protection and serving as religious centers. Without the benefit of the wheel, the Incas built massive stone cities and ruled an empire stretching 3,300 miles over some of the harshest terrain on earth. Without the use of mortar, the Inca constructed their cities, suspension bridges, and aqueduct systems, with an engineering expertise that has survived five hundred years of natural disasters, conquest, and modern development. Meals: B, L Day 03: Cusco - Piskacucho - Yuncachimpa We will depart from Cusco and drive to Urubamba where we have a brief stop, then on to Chillca to start the trek. We will have lunch in Miskay with a half-hour rest, after which we start our trek to the first campsite. Along the way we will visit the extensive Llactapata ruins, a testament to the engineering capabilities of the Incas. Meals: B, L, D Day 04: Yuncachimpa - Warmiwañusca - Runcuracay Enjoy an early breakfast and start trekking to the highest point of the Inca Trail, where we can see different ecological zones and climatic differences. We will experience the sun and wind of the high Andes as we hike in anticipation to the top. We cross the Warmiwañusca pass at 4200 meters above sea level (13,776’). After lunch, we descend into the valley on to the campsite at Pacaymayo and enjoy dinner and a well-deserved rest. Meals: B, L, D Day 05: Runcuracay - Chaq'icocha - Wiñay Wayna Walk approximately 45 minutes up to reach the second pass at 3850 meters above sea level (12,628’), and visit Runcuracay, small circular ruins overlooking the Pacaymayo Valley below. We descend and proceed to the Sayacmarca archaeological site, reached by a stone staircase and surrounded on three sides by sheer cliff walls. With commanding views of surrounding snow-capped peaks, we make our way through an orchid and moss-draped cloud forest to the third pass and arrive at the impressive ruins of Phuyupatamarca (town in the clouds), passing by six Inca ritual baths and through an Inca tunnel. After lunch we head to Wiñay Wayna where we will spend our last night. Meals: B, L, D Day 06: Wiñay Wayna - Machu Picchu - Cusco After an early breakfast, we start on the final leg of the trek to Machu Picchu. We will arrive at Inti Punku, from which we will see the Machu Picchu citadel appear before our eyes. After a short hike down to Machu Picchu, we sign in and start on our 3 hour guided visit of the fascinating ruins complex, with its intricately carved steps, altars, walls, houses, portals and terraces. After experiencing the ruins in all their glory, we take the bus down to Aguas Calientes where we will have some free time before we board the return train to Cuzco, transfer to Hotel. Accomodation. Meals: B, L Day 07: Cusco - Transfer Airport This morning we transfer to the airport for your domestic flight.
