DESCRIPTION
Pisaq Ruins
Pisaq is a quechua word, this word has no translation to another language, because it doesn’t qualified as an object or specific place. Pisaq is situated at the east of the Sacred Valley of the Inkas. To this village you come by guided tour by bus. (There are tours that pass all the Sacred Valley like Pisaq, Urubamba, Ollantaytambo and Chinchero. If you prefer, you can hire a taxi driver to take you to these locations). Archeological Park of Pisaq In top of a mountain, is were you can find the archaeological park of Pisaq, is composed by numerous squares in which the main one is know as the Intihuatana, admired because of the finest finished that all of the remains have. Also is of great importance the pre-Hispanic cemetery, the biggest one ever found in this part of the continent. The Inca constructions of Pisaq are admired because of the huge platforms that surround the mountain were the remains are located, all of the structures are made in polish rock, perfectly align, all of them are surrounded by lookout points or atalayas.
Pisaq Market
In the main square, underneath the huge trees that are there for ages, Tuesday, Thursday, and Sundays one can see the all of the pottery and art that bring for a diversity of bargains in the textiles and all of the craftsmanship the locals bring to sell. On Sundays in the old temple there is a celebration in quechua and the attendance is by all of the locals and mayor of all the communities. In Pisaq there is a great market place, where you can buy textiles and many other things. The market in Pisaq is bigger than that of Chinchero. Your problem probably will be that you pass Pisaq first. There are more things to choose between in Pisaq, but perhaps you can make better bargain at Chinchero.
Ollantaytambo
Ollantaytambo is one of the most spectacular archeological remains of Peru, for its multiplicity of archeological and the singularity of each one of them, they still haven’t come to a conclusion in the techniques that were used for the construction of the enormous walls made out of rock. Each rock is elaborated in an independent form in relation to all the other rocks, angles and different volumes. The town was divided into rectangular blocks with in a well plan geometric design made by modern architects. The narrow streets are directed to the Urubamba River. Each block is composed by houses that share the same door to the central patio. In the town there is a distribution of rectilinear streets and very narrow streets that are inhabited since Inka times.
Maras - Moray
Is located at an altitude of 11,090 feet above sea level Maras is located at a distance through the Izcuchaka-Chequered road of 48.10km through the road of Cusco - Chinchero of 48.88 ( this is the most used). In the town of Maras, one can appreciate the change of the glaciers of the Sacred Valley and the Vilcabamba valley. Nowadays this district safes an important attractive from the Pre-Hispanic period, in the town one can see the arch from the colonial times, from the noble in the century of XVI and XX. Maras was the force pass for the mule drivers that transport tropical products and especially the coca leaves from the jungle, to satisfy the needs of the city of Cusco and the country. From the town of Maras there is two roads, one leads to the archaeological rest of Moray and the other one to the salt mines of Maras, both of this roads have a distance of 2.5 miles.
Chinchero Ruins
Is located 17.4 miles to the northeast of the Cusco city, at 12,343 feet above sea level In somewhere in the middle of the highlands and a ridge, surrounded by the glaciers of Salkantay, Veronica and Soray. The actual main square, where fairs are celebrated on Sundays, it has a Inca wall that has twelve windows, each of them is 2 meters high, and 150 meters width, this wall also is used as a wall of contention for another square that is located right in front of the church. It also has colonial arch in the corner of the square, buildings that were made out of adobe, huge rooms with windows, doors and platforms that show the greatness of the Incas culture.
Chinchero Market
The chincheros market is one the most important in the region because of the great quality of the crafts they sale here. The qualities of these products are well known international for its excellence and beauty. In this market we can see the “trueque” a form of exchange of products, that is still in practise, here the woman still practise the form of weaving made all of llana for the sun's sons in the Imperial Cusco. It also has very fertile lands, this makes them the first to have the best quality of potatoes, some of the best Andean roots, beans, barley, and wheat, and this constitutes the commerce for the agriculture zone.
