DESCRIPTION

This is the most amazing and exciting trip to Machu Picchu with bike and trek, we can discover more adventures among the mountains, valleys, rivers and crossing smalls villages, coca plantations, coffee and a lot of kind of fruits …walking on the old real Inca Trail which connect to the city of the Incas, we will take also a relaxing bath in the hot spring which is good for rheumatism, this trip definitely is considered one of the adventure rote to Machu Picchu where we will observe daily living of Andean and local people… doing this kind of trips we can contribute with local people, buying some fruits, mineral water, also we always use the local restaurants and familiar hostels… as we already know they are always grateful with our guest.

Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco - Ollantaytambo -Abra Malaga - Santa Maria
We will leave from Cusco at 7am in our private vehicle, drive into sacred valley of the Incas, through Chincheros, Urubamba and Ollantaytambo until we reach Abra Malaga (4350m). Here bikers will change in to the kit provided by us (gloves and helmets) following a 20 minute briefing by our experienced tour guide. From there we will begin our bicycle tour to Santa Maria (downhill and cross country). In this experience we will see archeological centers like Huamanmarca and Inca jail, and an incredible landscape. We will be able to appreciate birds of the tropics, as well as medicinal plants in the cloud forest. This trip also takes us past many exotic fruits plantation such as mango, pineapple, papaya, avocado, coffee, and coca plants. We can take samples and enjoy the different flavors of the region. We can also observe the coca and coffee plantations and see local families in their daily routine. We will have dinner in Santa Maria town nearby river, where we will spend the night in small familiar hostel

Day 2: Santa Maria - Inka Jungle Trek - Santa Teresa (Hot Spring)
At 6am breakfast and then trekking along the banks of the Vilcanota River, were you will walk part of the Inca trail through the jungle. From San Pablo we will go up to Inca jail where we will see waterfalls, and archeological centers of the Inca time. On this hike you will be surrounded by indescribable beauty of the jungle.  Here you will have the opportunity to see exotic fruits, such as pineapple, mangos, avocados and oranges, butterfly clouds along the way, and other animals from the high jungle. You will also see plantations of coffee and coca leaf, a plant used by the Incas at the rituals.  During this part of the trek you will go through towns, and you will be able to expenses their serenity and peace.
Early afternoon arrive at the hot spring where you can enjoy their amazing hot springs for an additional $3, plenty time to relax in the thermal baths. We sleep at small familiar hostel in Santa Teresa town

DAY 3: Santa Teresa - Hydroelectric - Aguas Calientes (Hiking)
Early wake up to take 30 minutes transport until Lucmabamba community where we start to walk over Inca's Trail visiting the forgotten archeological site of Patallaqta from where we get the first view of Machu Picchu. Peruvian government is working over there rediscovering and cleaning the forest of this Inca's trail after to walk 05 hours we arrive to Hidroelctrica train station where we have the lunch. After a siesta we continue for 02 hours more until Aguas Calientes town where we spend the night in a comfortable hotel.

Day 4: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco
Early after breakfast you will take the bus to Machu Picchu (20 minutes) to visit the Machu Picchu Citadel and hike the Huayna Picchu to receive the cosmic and tellurics energy that the Sacred Apu has. The hike to Huayna Picchu starts at the Sacred Rock and passes through a gate that is open from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. This - one to two - hour walk is steep but the path is in excellent shape. You will get excellent photos and the view is unique.
After Huayna Picchu you will have about 2 hours and a half for our guided tour and another hour and a half to explore the ruins individually. You will know the amazing Machu Picchu Citadel and the Intiwatana and 4: PM you have to be in the train station to come back to Cusco

  • A backpack with a change of clothes for the whole period of the trek
  • Rain gear (jacket and pants if available) or rain poncho (plastic ponchos can be purchased in Cusco)
  • Strong footwear, waterproof trekking boots recommended
  • Sandals or jogging shoes for a higher comfort while at camp
  • Camera, films and batteries (batteries consume more quickly under cold conditions)
  • Hat or cap to protect you from the sun, rain and cold
  • Sun block
  • After-sun cream or hydrating cream for face and body
  • Snacks: biscuits, energy bars, chocolate, raw fruits, muesli, etc. Please note that we do provide a daily morning snack.
  • Small towel
  • Swimsuit (if you wish take a dip at the hot springs along the route)
